My Story

Shani was born in Miami, Florida and moved to Marin County, California at the young of two.
She received her BFA with honors in 1993 from the University of Southern California, Los
Angeles, CA. She worked in a number of glass studios in the bay area including John Lewis
Studio, Two Thousand Degrees, Architectural Glass Design, and later opened her own studio in
Corte Madera, CA named Savoy Glass. After marrying her husband Ben in 1998, she relocated
to the state of New Hampshire to raise her three children and continue her education. She
received a M.Ed with honors from Plymouth State University, Plymouth, NH with a focus on
interdisciplinary art and education. She was professionally trained at the Pilchuck Glass School
where she has served intermittently as the print shop coordinator since 1996. She has been an
adjunct professor at Plymouth State University since 2000, and is the founder and owner of
Squam River Studios in Ashland, NH.
Shani is passionate about educating and producing work based on climate change and the
impact it has on future generations.
